Hello, Richard Armitage!!

WOW!!!  Still trying to catch my breath!    It’s been a great day!!!

Yesterday was a great day too.   Hubby drove me around Oakland University to my fave vantage point for shooting pictures of the main scene of the tornado movie being filmed there.  He convinced me to go take my pictures even though there were crew members working there. Another man appeared out of nowhere and was giving the others some instructions. He smiled at us so I asked if I could take some pictures. He said go right ahead….take as many as you want. He asked which actor I was there to see, and I said Richard Armitage. He smiled again and said, “Oh, Richard! He’s our lead! Nice guy!” (I squeeeee’d silently in my head lol) I asked if it was alright to ask him a few questions and he said, “Shoot! I’ll answer whatever I can.”

I asked if he was familiar with the plot, and he said, “Oh yes…I’m the stunt coordinator.” First off, he verified that Richard is clean-shaven. The story takes place in Silverton, Oklahoma. Richard is playing a school teacher with *two* sons and Nathan Kress is playing the younger of the two. He said they will be filming there through Friday.

I took pictures of all the trailers, the craft services “tent” and a couple storm-chaser vehicles.

We drove back around to the main entrance so I could take some pictures from that side. The policeman told me I was more than welcome. I noticed a woman and a man walking on the side of the street opposite the parking lot. They didn’t appear to be part of the crew so I paid them no mind. I took my pictures, then the woman crossed over to me and said, “Are you here to see….” and she held up her Richard Armitage sign.  I asked if she was RAlover, and she said Yes! We talked for quite awhile until hubby let me know we had to get going so he could go to work. Before I left, I told her where the actors’ trailers were.  I had fun talking with her…she is really nice!

I spoke to her on the phone a few hours later and found out she hit the jackpot!  She got to meet Richard, got some pictures, and she was over the moon.    He told her that her sign was rubbish.  I got a kick out of that!  She told him that another fan had been there and he asked if she was coming.  She called me as soon as she left.  Unfortunately, I didn’t answer my phone!!!  *facedesk*  I was so happy for her.

RAlover suggested I should try again today.  Judiang talked me into making a sign so I ran to Walmart today for supplies.  While I did that, my husband and daughter took the motorcycle up to Oakland University.

My husband called me while I was on my way to the campus.  He said he took a stroll down the hill and talked to a woman outside the trailers.  He asked if Richard was there and would he be available to meet me once I arrived.  She said, he wasn’t there yet, but would be soon – hubby should hang out up on the hill and she would wave him back down when Richard was available.

A few minutes later he called back and said Richard is in makeup and if I don’t get there before he goes to costuming we would not be able to take pictures.   I was almost there, but had to take a most convoluted route – snaking my way through three more parking lots to where my husband was.

We didn’t have to wait long before the woman waved, and THERE HE WAS, striding towards us.  We ran down the hill (me praying that I would not have a Bridget Jones moment and fall on my arse, roll down the hill and end up at Richard’s feet).

My husband got there first and Richard met him with his hand outstretched and a “Hi, I’m Rich!”  They shook hands and my husband introduced me and Richard shook my hand.  All I could say was, “Hi!  I cannot believe I forgot my camera!”  He laughed at that and asked where we came from.  I told him we lived just down the road.  He smiled and shook hands with my daughter then bent down to talk to my 6-year-old son. Richard tried to shake his hand, but “Boy” had his hands full – a bottle of water in his right hand and a Captain America toy in his left.  I took the bottle so he could shake Richard’s hand, but he transferred the toy and offered Richard his left hand.   Richard asked him his name as they were shaking hands, but Boy wouldn’t answer.  I told him Boy’s name, and Richard took the Captain America figure and said, “Cool!  Captain America!!”

I told Richard I had brought another sign and showed it to him.  He cracked up.  He said, “We have to get a picture with this!!  Come over here!”  I walked over to him and he said, “Get in close.”   (SQUEEE)  He put his arm around my shoulder and grabbed the corner of the sign.  He told “Girl” to get in the picture and asked her to hold the other corner.

Of course, it was windy, and the wind blew all of my hair into my face. Grrr.  I hurried to push it back and put my arm around his waist (!)  *swoon*  My husband took the picture with his cell phone.

I asked if it was okay if I asked a few questions.  He said yes, so I asked him if he would be using a British or American accent for the film.  He paused.  His eyes twinkled at me as he smiled and said, “American.”

He started to leave, but I asked if he had time for one more question.  He turned to me and I grabbed his hand.  I said, “Please tell me your character’s name is not John.”  He didn’t quite hear me so he leaned in closer and I repeated what I had said.  He looked perplexed for a moment then laughed.  He said, “No, I am not John.”    Lame, I know, but I had to ask!

“Girl”, who talks to NO ONE, not even her teachers, asked if she could get a picture with him.  He said sure, and put his arm around her.  Then he said, “(Boy) come get in the picture!”  Boy stood next to his sister but Richard talked him into standing on Richard’s other side.  We snapped some pictures, and the woman said, “Richard, time to go or you’ll be late.”

I told him it was an absolute pleasure to meet him.  He smiled as he walked away.

And I squee, squee, squee’d all the way home!!!!!!!!!!!

I apologize for any spelling or grammatical errors – my head is still spinning!!!  The whole thing took less than 3 minutes, but it was phenomenal!!

I’d like to go on record and say that my husband the BEST husband on earth!!!!!!!!!!!!!

This is such a great story! Wow, I’m so thrilled. And you’re right; you have a fabulous husband. I’m thinking of starting a fanblog for him. ;) Thanks for sharing. I feel like I was there, literally! :D

  2. jasrangoon says:

Go Girl!!!! You got the scoop, American accent it is. How cool that it was a family affair for you. Yes, your hubby sounds like a definite keeper.

    • ItsJSforMe says:

That was the most important question – I *had* to ask that one! I love how he paused before answering. :D

My older boy didn’t want to go – with his sister out of the house, he had the computer all to himself! rofl

  3. Snicker's Mom says:

Thanks for sharing! And you look great even though you blurred out your face!!!!!!!!!

  4. gisbornesboy says:

Oh my… I’m on the edge to… cry. Seriously. This is so beautiful. I can so see this in front of me. Like I was there. Wish I had, but I probably would have been unable to talk… Since… Oh my god I can’t believe this actually happened to you and your family! You all are so lucky. So so so lucky. Oh… All right. I’ll stop now. Sigh… ♥

    • ItsJSforMe says:

I am so proud of myself – I was half afraid that I might end up just standing there staring with my mouth wide open! I handled it better than I thought I would.

  5. Maria Grazia says:

Thank you so much for sharing! You’ve been so good at describing that it was like being there with you… and HIM! Not another John, Thank God! A teacher? Never met one like RA, been a teacher for so long now!

    • ItsJSforMe says:

I tried to write it all down as soon as I got home – I didn’t want to forget any details! If I had a teacher like him when I was in school, I would not have learned a thing!

  6. Faboamanto says:

Oh my – you are so lucky – lucky family! Thanks for sharing with us all. Yes, now we know he’s playing an American. Will be very interesting, though I love his own accent. RA is such a sweetheart!!!!

  7. Great story! I laughed so much at your fear of having a Bridget Jones moment :D Thank you very much for sharing!!! :)))
PS: I agree with you. Your husband? Best husband on earth indeed. Bless him!

    • ItsJSforMe says:

LMAO I live in fear of having Bridget Jones moments! I can just see myself doing awkward and embarrassing things like that.

Hubby definitely earned a gold star today! :)

  8. dharrison75 says:

Wonderful. Thank you for sharing your experience x

  9. A Scattering says:

Good for you! Now your “Boy” and “Girl” will be able to write great “what I did on my summer vacation” essays when they get back t school.

    • ItsJSforMe says:

Girl has already been online and told all her friends…and she’s not even an RA fan. *BUT* he is British! Girl is a major fan of All Things British. :)

Boy probably won’t say anything to anyone, but someday soon he will come up to me – out of the blue – and say, “Remember when we went to see Richard, Mom? He’s Sir Guy, you know!”

  10. I LOVE this! Your sign is the best. And he looks amazing in a gray t-shirt. (Well, duh.) This is the kind of story that makes me wish I wasn’t so shy…otherwise I might be driving across the state to try and meet him too. Well done! And thank you for sharing.

    • ItsJSforMe says:

Judiang gets all the credit for the sign. She talked me into making it, and came up with the words to put on it. I just wrote it on the poster. :D

I have to tell you, I am really shy around people I do not know. If Hubby hadn’t gone down to the trailers, this *never* would have happened!

  11. Squid says:

Wonderful Wonderful I’m SO happy for you! Welcome to Cloud 9!!!! SQUEEEEEEE! Thank you for posting all the fabulous details!

  12. How cool! Great sign, girl. Your husband and kids were super for playing along. What a memorable few minutes.

  13. Sandra Gomes says:

Brilliant! I’m so happy for you (and jealous too, I must confess)… Can I post the link to your blog on tumblr?

  14. jazzbaby1 says:

LOL…go ItsJSforMe! And have I mentioned how rad your husband is?

  15. mimijml says:

You lucky lady! I’m on the wrong side of Lake Michigan, and not up for the 6.5 hour drive, or I’d be there! I’ve been virtually “stalking” him all over the Pontiac area.

  16. The Queen says:

So…I’m in the backyard working like a crazy woman pulling weeds, hauling off weeds, watering, trimming. I’m exhausted so I go to the back porch and fall into my rocking chair. Phone alerts me of new mail. I check it out and COME TO THIS??!!!!! Holy cow! You are adorable, your kids are adorable, your husband is beyond adorable and RICH (its that really what he calls himself?!!!) is adoRAble!!!!!!!!!!!! I laughed, and squeed (I’ve NEVER used that word before!) and then laughed some more. You absolutly postively made MY DAY!!!!!

I have now used up my quota for !!!s and typed the words “awesome” and “squeed”…I am officially over the edge!! So so happy for you!!!

One question…did he speak with his English accent or try out his USA tawk on you?!! :)

    • ItsJSforMe says:

I’m glad I could make your day! :) I will never *ever* forget this day! LMAO One of the (many) images running through my mind is “Rich” reaching out to shake hands with my husband. And, him bending down to speak to my boy. And, his eyes as he answered my question about the accent. And…and…and… :P

    • ItsJSforMe says:

Oops…forgot to say he spoke with his British accent. :)

  17. beengizzied says:

    By Thor’s hammer! Well done.

  18. Kathleen says:

How wonderful! I could not be happier for you and your family. You answered one of the burning questions, what accent – American. The other question, that usually comes up so I might as well ask it, what did he smell like?

All this excitement makes me want to get in the car and drive the 600 miles to Michigan ;-)

  19. jeanniegisborne says:

Thank you for sharing your exciting story with us. We can all live vicariously through your experience and it gives each of us hope that one day we too, might be able to meet Richard in person. I can imagine you will be squee-ing for a long time to come. Congratulations!

  20. NZfanofRA says:

Who could resist that sign. Not RA obviously. Am thrilled for you.

  21. judiang says:

I’m so happy for you! Maybe he didn’t think the sign was so rubbish after all. LOL!

  22. zan says:

YOU DID IT! :) I told you last night to think positively!!!!! *grinning from ear to ear*
He sounds just like we all think he would … sweet, funny, engaging, gorgeous!!! He looks like he is having a blast in the photo with the sign. You go, girl!
OK … so we know Oklahoma, teacher, 2 sons, American accent … wow!
Oh, hon, I’m just so happy for you and your family, too. Tell that hubby of yours that he has thousands of admirers. ;)
So, how much time have you spent on the phone with RAlover today? *giggle*

  23. Beachbaby says:

That is so exciting. Just loved your new sign. LOL. And you managed to ask questions – well done!
    Thank you fot sharing. :-)

    • ItsJSforMe says:

Thanks Beachbaby :) I’m glad I had the extra day to think about possible questions. I was caught flat-footed when I met the stunt co-ordinator. I was a bit more prepared today.

  24. Siouxsie Sioux says:

So pleased – what a lovely family! What a lovely man!! Lucky you, how great was that.

  25. gracie says:

  32. Regina says:

I think we all knew Richard was a great guy (and gorgeous to boot)! Thanks for sharing your wonderful story. I am extremely jealous. =^)

    • ItsJSforMe says:

When I read other reports of fans meeting him, I took the “he’s a great guy – so sweet!” comments with a grain of salt, but he really, really is sweet. And even better looking in person!!

  33. Ania says:

Thank you for sharing so beautifully described the history of your meeting with Richard. Thank you, thank you very much! I am full of appreciation for your husband, what a great man!

    • ItsJSforMe says:

Thanks! I did my best to remember to ask questions, and remember as many details as possible. I am so thankful my husband decided to not wait for me, and went to ask on his own!

  38. RAFrenzy says:

This is fantastic. I have a huge grin on my face Couldn’t have happened to a nicer person! And your husband sounds like a doll. Thank you so much for sharing this.

Your husband is amazing!! He’s a keeper for sure! :D I’m SO happy that you had this amazing experience. (Maybe a little jealous too!) What wonderful memories to treasure for ever! Thanks a million for sharing all of them plus the pictures! Just when I think I couldn’t love the guy any more than I already do I read this report and I’m smitten all over again!! Kudos to you for staying cool-headed enough to actually ask him those important questions!! :)

  41. angieklong says:

Been out most of the day and just getting to read this. I am so glad to know that today turned out to be YOUR lucky day, darling!! What a lovely treat and great that you had the presence of mind to ask questions along the way. Your husband sounds like a sweetheart like mine–patient, supportive and really understanding of the major RA crush. Richard looks great and seems so sweet and likeable–squeeeeee! Thanks so much for sharing this.

  42. Amanda says:

Woo hoo ! Well done Mr ItsJS4me, for helping your dear lady to have such a heavenly experience.
Thanks for sharing this ItsJS4me. I’m grinning from ear to ear for you. And I’m all fluffy at how sweet he was to your son and daughter.

  43. Here I am at home, about for my cold to turn into bronchitis, feeling sorry for myself and definitely needed a pickup. Then, I find your story. Thank you!!! You have definitely brightened my evening and warmed the coddles of my tiny heart. It’s so good to read something confirm what we all think about Richard and know he truly is a good man, kind and generous. I can’t believe you heard him laugh, that you put you arm around his waist! Oh, my gosh, I probably would have started to shake like a leaf or blabber a bunch of nonsensical chatter, since my brain would have frozen in shock. Could you tell us about his eyes? Are they blue or hazel? I am obsessed with his eyelashes! Please tell your husband that his behavior towards you has given me hope that there are still a bunch of great men out there and I need not give up my search! Hope you can answer my question. Now I’m off to Tumblr to re-blog your story. Thank you!!!

P.S: I am a teacher, and the news that he is playing one brings a huge smile to my face. Yeah!

    • ItsJSforMe says:

I hope you feel better soon!

His eyes are an icy blue-grey. When I have a chance, I am going to try to find a picture that does them justice. LOL

      • Icy blue-grey? Oh, my gosh, I would have been hypnotized right then and there! One of his pictures is my desktop background. I figure that, since I’m single, it’s o.k. to crush on him. Right? hahaha … Thanks for the good wishes for my health. If by any chance you get to see him again tomorrow and exchange words, PLEASE tell him that his Tumblr Army created a Birthday Book for him and one of us sent him a copy, to please read it. (I wrote the proclamation for his birthday that’s in the middle of the book). The creators worked SO HARD to create it, I truly hope he gets to see it; it’s a thin book full of graphic art and writing. :D Thank you!!

  44. Joanna says:

Thank you very much, ItsJSforMe! I’m so happy for you and green with envy.;)
Now, it is possible that I have a little crush on your hubby….may I?…if not….just be unkind to me ,please.:)

    • ItsJSforMe says:

I don’t mind at all, Joanna! Crush away! :) It was lovely to meet you in chat this evening!

      • Joanna says:

Awww….Thank you,ItsJSforMe!, feeling is mutual.:) It was very lovely and…frustrating in the same time, you have no idea how it is.;( I mean, I felt great but a little bit like eavesdropper ,a vouyer.;)

        • ItsJSforMe says:

It can get frustrating at times when the comments are coming at you so fast. It took me awhile to get used to it. You shouldn’t feel like an eavesdropper! Those of us who have been there awhile know what it’s like at first.

*whispers confidentially* Just between you and me – I don’t always participate in the conversation – I just sit back and listen read! When I’ve been quiet too long to suit her, Judiang will poke me with a (virtual) stick to make sure I am still awake! *grin*

          • Joanna says:

You are very nice person ItsJSforMe, no wonder that you have such a wonderful family, I wish you all the best!.:* LONG LIVE RA!:D

Great story! I love how casual this shoot is compared to the Hobbit.

    • ItsJSforMe says:

I received so many conflicting stories…he’s here, he’s not here; he won’t be here at all, he’ll be here all three days. But…I love how the filming locations are not totally closed off to the public. I’ve got some great pictures of the “used car lot.”

  49. RAFrenzy says:

I was in the car when I saw this, so now I’m coming back to give it a more thorough reading, and I may read it, oh a time or two more. ;D

  53. Jennie says:

Fabulous account of a wonderful encounter with a truly lovely man….. I am thrilled for you and yet green with envy all at the same time! ;-) Thanks for sharing this joyous tale!

    • ItsJSforMe says:

Thanks Jennie. I’m just happy that it turned out the way it did. The *only* way it could have been better – I could have remembered to bring my good camera!

  54. Bollyknickers says:

I was lying on the couch feeling sorry for myself after a small op yesterday when my email pinged and Servetus told me about RAlovers encounter. I was grinning from ear to ear and spent all day signing up for C19 and AA and reading and squeeing and generally thinking how happy i am that i have this crush because not only is RA clearly a great guy but his fans are lovely too. It was only in the evening that i realised i hadn’t taken any of the panadeine forte the hospital had sent me home with! Those pleasure endorphins must have been rushing around my body and stopping the pain. And then today, just when i thought it couldn’t get any better, i read about your encounter. I’m so happy for you. And him being nice to your children makes me even more happy. So it is official – RA is the better than panadeine!

You obviously have excellent taste in men as that husband of yours sounds like a hero too!

  55. Mezz says:

What’s the next best thing to meeting Richard oneself? One of our own meeting him!! :)
Thank you so much for sharing, IJS4M, and for the lovely pics. I’m thrilled for you and yes, a little jealous too. ;) What a beautiful sweetheart of a man he is, my level of besottedness keeps on cranking up with every encounter. After reading of RALover’s encounter with him, I was keeping my fingers crossed that you would be lucky too. Your hubby is truly wonderful!

    • ItsJSforMe says:

I had convinced myself it wasn’t going to happen, so actually meeting Richard was beyond incredible! Seeing him with my kids made me admire him even more. :)

  56. kaprekar says:

Amazing lovely story – and what a lovely husband you have!! Same with RAlover. I am so glad it all worked out and you have this lovely experience to treasure. I have heard that he is called Rich from somewhere else (can’t remember where). You lucky, lucky girl!!

  58. UK Expat says:

Itsy, I’d like to agree that you do INDEED have a fantabulous husband – he just so GETS YOU and pushes for the best life experiences for you!!! :D

I remember a few weeks ago waking up @ 4am here in London – thinking, “Hey, I’m in the ‘chat’ time window – I wonder if anyone’s there?” It was you, me, and Judi holding the fort at the end – and Judi and I were discussing Chicago or some other topic – when you suddenly burst in with ‘Hubby just came in telling me a woman who works as security guard has been stationed at this nearby location where they are filming a tornado movie’. I remembered thinking then, “Wow, that is SOME HUBBY out scouting information for you!”

And of course, he did EVEN BETTER, mobilizing you and the family for the outing!! (I have secretly been hoping for something like this for you since that chat session!) ;)

Thank you SO MUCH for sharing the story and pics with everyone and posting so rapidly!! After RALover’s post and pics yesterday and now yours, it all feels so ‘real time’! I’m also so glad you got to meet RALover!! Your husbands (photographers) are both geniuses as logistical accomplices! :)

    • ItsJSforMe says:

I remember that night! I was dumbfounded when hubby casually tossed out that little tidbit of information! He’s come home a few nights since then with more bits. And yesterday? That was major!!

      • UK Expat says:

:D Dumbfounded is also how I felt trying to make sense of “What does Itsy’s husband have to do with a tornado movie filming nearby?? … Oh wait!!! I’m with you now!!” ;)
The meeting was the PERFECT CULMINATION to that tidbit he dropped weeks ago!!

  59. Traxy says:

Ohmigosh, that sign made me laugh out loud! What a fantastic story to tell, I bet you’re over the moon!! So happy for you all! :D

    • ItsJSforMe says:

Part of me is thinking that it *is* just a fantastic story. It’s a good thing I have the pictures to prove to myself it really happened. :D

      • Traxy says:

I know the feeling! I feel exactly the same about an encounter with my favourite singer. It’s been nearly 12 years and I still can’t believe it actually happened! :D

Thanks a lot for sharing your story and pics with us. :-)

  62. What a great encounter – he sounds wonderful! Very excited for you!

  63. sapphire says:

My eldest girl gets married today and it is a little stessful right now but your story will keep a smile on my face all day and no matter how the day goes i’ll be having a giggle I’m sure Richard appreciates his supporters. I believe a girl who was part of the crew on the theatre production ‘the duchess of malfi’ called him Rich and said he had a great sense of humour.

  64. Ga says:

Thank you for asking of his character’s name. And that RICHARD SIGN is the best. Very witty. ^__^

    • ItsJSforMe says:

I’m glad this character isn’t named John. Five is plenty! LOL If Judiang hadn’t come up with the saying for the sign, I probably would not have made one. :P

  65. Bliss says:

This is such a wonderful story! I am so thrilled for both you and RALover.
I swear, just when you think you can’t love him anymore than you do he goes and does stuff like this and makes you fall for him all over again.
And as for him calling himself ‘Rich’….*sigh* Love that. Thanks again for sharing this with us.

  66. Sadie says:

Wooo Hooo!! What a day you had! Richard is absolutely an AMAZINGLY kind, generous, lovely man..Have had the pleasure of meeting him briefly a few years ago, and reading your post has not only brought it all back…Bridget Jones moments included….but made me grin, giggle, and be so happy for you!
Always had a feeling he’d be GREAT with kids and boy is he ever!
And that husband of yours…..He’s a Keeper!!! Gold Star for him!!
LOVED, LOVED, LOVED that sign! Brilliant! He obviously appreciated it too! LOL!

Thanks for sharing your amazing adventure with the rest of us…What a beautiful day..what a beautiful man! :)

  67. UrbanGirl says:

Thank you so much for your report and pics! I’m grinning at the one with your sign. Richard found it funny too ;-)
He was so sweet… It’ll be an awesome memory, for you and your family!
Thanks too for asking the right questions (accent, name), very neat!

  68. linda60 says:

Itsy, you and RALover kept me so busy through yesterday, reading and re-reading, trying to find my way around the dif forums to grab all the details you’d written (oh gosh, all this million comments!), being in a constant state of excitement (maybe a bit overwhelmed as you were), staring at your pics with a gorgeously handsome Richard….. I’m still processing, even it was NOT me having seen him in the flesh ;-( but now I’m leastways up to put in my two cents:
WOW!!!! Well done, ladies (with a little help of friends!! hi,hi)! What a wonderful experience for you and RALover and it certainly was of advantage to have your kids and an incredible supportive husband at your side to back you up. Lucky ladies, you!! Thank you so much for reporting it to us right away. This really felt somewhat we had a chance to be there as well. :-)

  69. jh says:

Am thrilled for you, ItsJSforMe !
    Glad the sign worked!
Did your son realise RA was Heinz Kruger in Captain America ? RA was very restrained in not mentioning it!
Think we would all worry about having a Bridget Jones or Geraldine Granger moment if we met him!
You’ll be on Cloud Nine for days…
(So many exclamation marks because it’s SO exciting!)

  70. Aurora says:

ItsJSforMe!!! OMG! OMG! I have been panting and squeeing and running around the house shrieking as I read your account. I contemplated jumping on the bed but restrained myself. My 2-year-old keeps asking “what dat noise?” And I keep saying “It’s mommy, having an overexcited fangirl moment.” (And believe me, “girl” is a stretch in my case…).

Yes, yes, your husband is amazing, but let’s get back to Richard. RICHARD! “Hi, I’m Rich.” OMG! You put your arm around his waist! OMG! OMG!

OK, gotta go. I have to get my heartrate and breathing back to normal (if possible) and resume being a responsible parent. Thank you SO MUCH for sharing your experience. Loved the “rubbish” sign.

    • ItsJSforMe says:

*giggle* I can relate! Meeting him certainly was a rush!

      • Aurora says:

Now that I’ve calmed down (took nearly 24 hours), I can add how happy I am for you that you got to have that experience and that he was so kind to you and your family, and to thank you again for letting us experience it through your wonderful report.

I sent my husband the link to your blog, and he read it all and liked it. He said Richard sounds like a genuinely nice person, which we had suspected from prior fan reports. He noted, however, that Richard looks older. I guess he had to get in a small dig to balance the extremity of my fangirl reaction. Usually it’s snide comments about the length of Richard’s nose, but since your pictures did not show our man in profile….

My husband also reiterated something that he’s said before, and I’m curious about your thoughts on it: that if the situation were reversed, and the lovely supportive husbands were all agog about some hot female star to the extent that we are about RA, the wives would voice anger, jealousy, deem the interest–or at least the expression of the interest– “inappropriate.” I’d like to say he’s wrong, but I suspect I would feel somewhat insecure if he started “fanboying” about Keira Knightley or Angelina Jolie or someone, and my insecurity might come out as anger. If you have moment to share your thoughts on this dilemma, I’d be grateful, ItsJSforme! Thank you!

        • ItsJSforMe says:

I haven’t been ignoring you, Aurora; I wasn’t quite sure how I was going to answer. It’s difficult for me to say how I would respond if hubby started “fanboying” about an actress. We’ve been married nearly 19 years, and I can safely say he is not the type of guy who would do something like that. But, on the off chance that he did someday, I honestly do not think I would handle it as well as he has my “fangirling.” He is a much better person than I. :)

          • Aurora says:

Hi, ItsJSforme. Thank you for your candid reply! Yes, I’m with you. I don’t think my husband would take up “fanboying” either, but if he did…I’d like to think I’d try to be supportive, but not so sure I would succeed! In any case, thanks again for your report and replies, and wishing you a Happy Armitage Day tomorrow!

  71. jaydee09 says:

Great sign! Great encounter! Great husband! I’m so pleased for you.

I’d also like to know if your son was carrying his Captain America figure for any particular reason. And, if your family weren’t fans of his before, are they now? Will they be coming with you to see The Hobbit and Category Six?

    • ItsJSforMe says:

Thanks Jaydee :) Hubby went with me twice to see CA on the big screen and he watches Strike Back with me. He loves to make wisecracks about Sir Guy and all his black leather while Robin Hood is on the TV. I have no doubts that he will accompany me to see Category Six – he went with me to two of the tornado filming locations so I was able to look & take pictures while he drove! The Hobbit films are not to be missed – my whole family loves the LotR trilogy.

Before we left the house, I asked Boy to grab a few toys as I wasn’t sure how long we would have to wait. He is a major SuperHero Squad / Avengers fan so I wasn’t surprised that Cap was one of the toys he brought along.

When I tucked Boy in bed last night, I asked him if he had fun meeting Richard. His response: “Yes! He liked my Captain America. Too bad he didn’t see my Hulk!!!”

  72. RichardArmitage Fans says:

    Hi itsJSforme,
Can I try to translate your account for the French fans of RA. With my colleague we’re going to open a french blog dedicated to him so I think it would be interesting for them to share your amazing adventure, very lucky ladie you are !

Please tell me: rubbish is a US term for rap music ?

    • Pardonnez mois. Rubbish = merde. It’s a word for when something has a crappy quality, like a poster that has not been made well, nor with good materials. It’s also equivalent to “bullsh*t”. [My apologies to everyone. I normally do not ever use those words, but she asked for an explanation. Please so not ban me from this site! Thank you.]

      • RichardArmitage Fans says:

Thanks very much Mujer Tropical ! Vous êtes toute pardonnée ! I didn’t saw the sense of the word he said seeing the sign (for me rubbish is links with dustbin) so that means the sign wasn’t really good ! I have to find another word to translate this ! Thanks again Mujer Tropical. Cheers
Please do not ban her from this site, it was very nice from her to give me a reply.

        • Merci beaucoup! Yes, ‘trash’ or ‘garbage’ would be more appropriate words. I’m sorry, but I am very sick with a chest cold and not thinking as well as I usually do. Au revoir!

          • ItsJSforMe says:

@RichardArmitage Fans: Just remember that if you have any other questions about the post, you can email me back and I will be more than happy to try & explain it for you. :)

  73. sloan says:

How exciting for you!!! Thanks for sharing. Can’t wait to hear his American accent.

  74. Lynn says:

I smiled all the way through this. I am so happy for you and your family. He was so thoughtful of your children. You are indeed lucky and this is another confirmation that RA is one of the nicest people ever. His increasing stardom has not gone to his head.

  75. cdoart says:

Thank you so much for your wonderful report and pictures about your meeting with RA, and thank you to your husband, Judiang and also RALover !!!
I had been sad for you after yesterday’s report, when you did not meet RA, so I am absolutely over the moon now, that it worked out for you as well.
I love your sign, as it shows, how close knit and supportive the RA-fandom is to each other.
Wonderful ;o) I can’t stop smiling now, as I am so happy for you ;o)
Also a big thank you for the life important question about the many ‘Johns’. That was something I had been asking myself as well after the lot of Johns ;)

    • ItsJSforMe says:

I wasn’t sad when I didn’t meet him, because I was so excited for RAlover. I am glad it worked out for me, though. Who knows if I would ever get another chance to meet him?

  76. Thanks so much for the pictures of Richard. and the report. I know you are very thrilled.

  77. ItsJSforMe says:

Extremely thrilled, for sure! I couldn’t wait to get home and write down everything that happened. LOL

  78. Judit says:

Oh,dear ItsJSforMe, where do I start? First, thank you so much for sharing your wonderful experience with us. You have NO idea how much reading your story helped me get through today… I’m so grateful! So very happy for you! Hilarious sign – kudos to Judiang! Fantastic husband- can you clone him (I keep asking Angie to clone her hubby too!)? THANK YOU for asking THE question about the accent AND the character’s NAME! Clever, clever girl! Btw, how old is your girl if you don’t mind me asking? You mentioned your little boy was six. :) Sweet, sweet Richard. How lucky I am to have discovered him. I’m so proud to be his fan.

  79. ItsJSforMe says:

Girl is seventeen. Right now, for her, if it isn’t British, it isn’t good enough! She was happy enough to meet Richard, but I suspect that was because “He’s the first British person I ever met!!”

  80. Susmita says:

You are so lucky. And a hugh thank you for posting this for all his other fans to read. Absolutely loved reading it.

  81. Tamera says:

I spent the day feeling sorry for myself after applying for the fifteen hundredth job in the year and a half that I have been unemployed, and thought nothing could make me feel better. Then I read your lovely blog about meeting Richard, with your wonderful family. Believe or not, it actually gave me a sense of hope. If something as great as meeting the kind and generous (not to mention handsome) Richard Armitage is possible, make there still is hope of me finding a job after all. Thanks for the pick me up.

    • Bollyknickers says:

Glad that you also got some much needed theRApy* from this too Tamera. Being out of work and getting so many knock backs is devastating – i hope you can also find strength in knowing that RA also struggled for a long time before he got a break. It’s amazing to think now that an agent told him that probably wouldn’t happen for him – i think he would know exactly how you feel right now. Fingers crossed something good comes your way soon.

*I love the idea of theRApy – thanks for pointing that out ItsJSforMe!

      • ItsJSforMe says:

@Tamera – big hugs for you! You did need some theRApy! I would say more, but Bollyknickers said it better than I could. :) I hope things turn around soon!

@Bollyknickers: when I joined the fandom just over a year ago, I heard (saw) comments from people talking about how “theRApeutic” Richard related things can be. I totally agree with them – watching his DVDs, listening to his audiobooks, etc. is usually guaranteed to bring me out of a funk. I hope “theRApy” is one of the terms JasRangoon plans to add to The RAD (Richard Armitage Dictionary) site. *gently nudges Jas*

  82. Felso says:

    Priceless! Thanks for sharing!

  83. phylly3 says:

Simply THRILLING! Thanks so much for posting this story so quickly. I was reading it in the car on one of my rare trips to the city. I was/am so excited for you! I read your post to my husband too and he got a kick out of it. :) Thanks so much for your questions –Perfect!! So glad it all turned out so well for you and your family too! *Sigh!*

  84. Barb says:

I’m originally from Detroit but live in Texas now and when I saw that they were starting filming on my birthday, and I’m soooooo far away, I was thrilled for fellow Michiganders but sad for me.

I loved reading this and am so excited for you! Congrats!

    • ItsJSforMe says:

Happy Belated Birthday! :) I was amazed that it actually was taking place. I’m used to being a day late and a dollar short! A perfect example: The day before, I told RAlover where the trailers were, and went home. She met him soon after! That’s how my luck usually runs. *giggle*

  85. fread says:

Thanks for sharing your experience! I definitely agree with everyone that says you made us feel like we were there too. Great description! I especially loved “His eyes twinkled at me.” That made me smile wider when I read that and I already had a pretty big smile on before that.

That is so brilliant, and brave. I think I would be too scared. I wish he would film in Australia. I would love to meet him face to face. He sounds like a really nice person. I love the “Hi, I’m Rich!” . I’ve often wondered if he called himself that.

    • ItsJSforMe says:

It was a blast! I’m not brave at all…if my husband hadn’t been there, I don’t think I could have done it. Looking at the photos, I have moments when I think, “Did this really happen??” I still giggle to myself over the “Hi, I’m Rich!”

(I’m sorry it took me so long to reply – I’ve been a bit scatterbrained lately!)
